Vintage 14k Enamel Checkered Pin

This is so cool. I'm unclear what it was used for, but given the unique screw-on backing, I'm guessing it was used for a placement with an existing opening, perhaps a button hole on a lapel or the hole in your baseball cap. Yes, I said cap. Offering it up as is before converting her, to give my purist friends a chance.
