Early Vintage 18k St. Christopher Medal

As many people know, St. Christopher is the patron saint of travelers. According to tradition, Christopher was a giant who carried travelers across a dangerous, rushing river. One night, he carried a small child across the water who grew increasingly heavy; the child revealed he was Jesus Christ bearing the weight of the entire world. Over hundreds of years, many beautiful St. Christopher medallions have been made by metal smiths all over the world, but to me, the most interesting and peculiar one is the one with a roadster on the back side. As cars became common in the early-to-mid 20th century (such as the 1930s roadsters and touring cars), jewelers and religious supply makers adapted the design to include this vehicle vs previous iterations which did not have a design on the back side. Whenever I come across a St. Christopher, I like to always check the back to see if it’s my lucky day.
