Early Vintage 14k Enamel Pansy Ring Sz 4.75-5

I have been searching high and low for an enamel pansy ring for a very, very long time. I pride myself in being one of those collectors and sellers that can find anything and when I say this was a hard one to find, believe it. Why are pansies so popular in antique jewelry? The term "pansy" is similar to the French word "pense" which translates to "thinking of...", in other words "thinking of you" - one of the most romantic coded gestures in antique jewelry and one of the many reasons why old jewels are just far superior.
